De-Santa-Fi-cation!

Have you ever watched The Santa Clause 2? Do you remember the part where Tim Allen starts the de-santa-fication? Where he isn't gonna be Santa anymore until he gets married. So to find a wife, he starts to de-santa-fy, and looses his big tummy, white hair and beard. This all make a BIG difference with his appearance.
From this

To this

And finally to this:
That is what I feel that we have to do every year just after Christmas. It is a lot of work to lay out those Christmas decorations, all over the house with decor and music (and this blog) and every other touch of Christmas that you create during the month of December.
But now the hardest part of all! The De-santafication of your "December body"! Every new year is a new plan to make yourself and your life and definitely your body, better! If only it was that easy to be Tim Allen and to slim down within a day or two. To change your bad habits and create a "better" you! Are you ready to start fresh? Then let the De-Santa-fication process start working on all of us! (And may the good Lord help us with all our goals this year!- I know I am gonna need it!) Goodbye Hot Cocoa- I shall miss you as my mid-morning treat!

T's New Years Goals!
#1 Loose this $@%# weight that I can't seem to get rid of!
#2- Read Scriptures as a family again- we have taken too long of a break
#3- Wake up earlier- I don't like leaving my cozy bed in the winter!
-My other goals are personal ones like being a better wife, mother and person!

What are your New Year Goals?

Book and Movie Recommendation

Thanks to THIS girl, I was able to borrow and read this book! It was a great book! I really enjoyed it and can see why it is a popular novel to read in book groups. Now I am excited to see the movie!

Oh! And speaking of movies, (Thanks to the same gal, who celebrated her birthday and was kind enough to let me tag along)I saw this movie.

It was really sweet (and a little sad). The ending really touched me as a mother and a wife! There is a little adultery in it which I wasn't loving- but other than that, it was a really neat story of living life with an unusual circumstance!

Yo Ho Ho!

Merry Christmas from our blog to yours!
Hope you have a bountiful booty !!!
(I know mine is- lol!)
Many have asked where we got these taken. Do you remember this post? We went to Leavenworth and found a few charming places to get your pic taken. You could get old western, victorian, German or pirate inspired pics taken. I thought western would be cute, but Jon said it has been done and done again, so lets do something different. You sure don't see many pirate family pics!- AAAARRRGH!

Christmas Eve at the Jacobs 6 House!

Here it is Christmas Eve and still snowing.Carli was invited to go to a dear friend's house yesterday and decorate a gingerbread house. It made it through the night, but quickly became the kids breakfast this morning! Jack found a plastic candy cane to nibble on. But when that didn't work so well...He found out that markers were more satisfying.
Can you tell who was in a bad mood????

Carli took this of Jack playing with the singing snowmen that Grandma sent.
He does the cute little arm thing a couple of times in the video, but does it a lot with he isn't being filmed!

5 of us are all snug and cozy in the Jacobs House. The presents are wrapped. The ham for dinner tomorrow is in the fridge. The cards have been sent and the goodies to friends have been distributed. The kids rented a movie last night to help them pass the day.
Where is Jon? Out buying my Christmas present of course! I love my last- minute- shopper- husband! He makes me smile!!!

Home!

My Jonny is home safely. He went to San Francisco on business on Tues. and was gonna fly home today. He made it as far as Seattle and then the rest of his flight was cancelled due to the weather. He decided to rent a car and drive back! It took him a lot longer than usual but when he walked in the door, in relief, I said a prayer of thanks to the Lord! (The funny part is that the airline that cancelled was Alaska Airlines.- You think that would make a difference in this kind of weather.) Anyway, I am off to spend some cuddle time with my big scientist guy while watching The Mummy 3!
Hope you have a warm and cozy night too!

Done!

I love Christmas cards! I love making them, I LOVE getting them! If I get nothing Christmas morning, but have gotten tons of Christmas cards before, I would be totally happy! They are my little treasures! (That was also a hint for the theme of our cards this year!)

You should recieve your Christmas card in 3-5 business days!

Whew! It feels good to check that off my list.

Christmas Cookies

When I was growing up my mother had this cook book. (Its from 1983)I think that we made just about 90% of the cookies in it at one time or another. I remember every year she would make these cookies called Rudolph's Antlers. Every year we would forget about them until we saw them cooling in the fridge. Every year my mouth would drool just waiting to eat them. I have made them every year since before the kids were born. If I make no other cookie, I will certainly make these. I guess you could say they have somewhat become tradition in the Jacobs' home. They are so simple yet so yummy!
Here is some Christmas goodness from T~

1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
1/2 cup butterscotch pieces
2 cups chow mien noodles
12 maraschino cherries, halved

In a saucepan, melt the butterscotch and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in chow mein noodles. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto a waxed paper lined baking sheet, making v-shaped cookies about 2 inches long. Place a cherry halve in the center of each. Chill in the fridge 1 to 2 hours or till firm. Makes 24 cookies. Enjoy and don't blame me for the extra weight you gain this Christmas! LOL!

Don't Believe Everything You Read!

road Pictures, Images and Photos

Has anyone seen the front page of the newspaper today? If you haven't go HERE.
Jon and I were laughing at how much he was mis-quoted.
And just for the record, we moved away cuz we got a schmokin' hawt deal on the house and land, NOT because of traffic congestion. (Didn't even realize that was an option!)

All Decked Out!

I do love the house when it is decked out for Christmas and cozy, but this year I really struggled to decorate it. It was a lot of work and I decorated it in between taking kids to school, picking them up gvig the baby naps and changing poopy diapers, and taking the older kids to piano lessons. Whew! I am bushed thinking about it. Well since friends and family don't get up to see us around the holidays, here is the house all prettied up!

Well- if you can believe it- I did do one project that I thunk up all by myself!!!

(usually I just copy others projects, like in THIS post!)

(Yup! I made it from book pages just like the wreath)

It didn't turn out quite like my vision, but close and I don't know if i'm lovin the blue ribbon, so that might change. But I do like it! AND- it lights up? (ta da!)

I challenge YOU to post your favorite Christmas Decor.

(I think I might do some other Christmas -challege posts too later on!)

I don't know about you, but festive decor and good music, company and food really help me get into the holiday spirit and what we are truly celebrating at this time of year!

Kid Funny!

After the Primary Program (a couple weeks ago) the kids did so well that they all got a baggie with a cookie and a candy bar in it. I told the kids that they could eat their treats on the way home (I mean- come on, like they are gonna wait until they get home anyway!) Anyway, Bridger informed me that since he ate all of his cookie, he was now able to eat his candy bar (for dessert). That kid sure takes after his mom!!! That's my boy, Bridger!!!

We Interupt this Christmas Music....

shopping Pictures, Images and Photos

When you go Christmas shopping, do you get confused and think that you are out buying gifts for yourself instead? Apparently I did. I was out and found the Twilight Soundtrack while at Target and thought that it would be nice to support the movie so that maybe they will have a better budget next time. LOL. I saw that there was only 2 left, so I snatched it up. I got to say that I am LOVIN" it. Does this song by Iron and Wine remind anyone else of a Chris Issac song? (You seriously can't be breathing and not like Chris Issac!- oh! Did I just date myself???) I put some of the music on my playlist for a day or 2 for all to enjoy!

I AM Thankful!

I am giving a talk tomorrow in church on doing things with thanksgiving. Every time I do research for a lesson or talk, it makes me think about and apply the subject to my life. I just want to pour out my heart to say how thankful I am for the wonderful things in my life. I AM thankful for the bad as well as the good- cuz I know that I am a stronger woman because of my trials.

My Big Hunter Man!

Jonny spent 5 days with Nolan in Montana last week. It was Nolan's first hunt for big game meat. Jon went with 4 deer tags and came home with 3 deer. I gave my Sweet husband the camera to take with him for almost a week and he came back with 3 pictures on it. Three. (You know I need the camera for blogging). The above pic was one that they took while they were gone.

These are pix that Carli took of Jon skinning his deer in the garage. We are making tons of deer Jerkey. Did I mention I HEART deer jerkey!

I was gonna write more, but it is late and with the holiday approaching (and I was recently asked to give a talk on Sun) I had better post this and get some cuddle time in with my Jonny b4 things get too crazy!!!

Twilight Movie Weekend!

So, I couldn't wait! I had to see Twilight this weekend.

It was good, but cheesy...but good, but cheesy... but good, but cheesy. I have mixed feelings about it, but whoa- there was a LOT of eye- candy!!!

And THIS was just announced today!

(Note: Just remember when you go see it that it was an independant film- I hope for the next one that they get the funding needed to make the special effects better!)

Compromise

Well- at least it is not above my bed (apparently it was a possibility)

(Please don't look at my dust covered rail. (In my housekeeping defense it is a hard to reach area!!!) Jonny said that the picture that I took did not give it justice (it looked to small), so he made sure that the readers of this blog got the full effect!

Primary Program!

The kiddos had their primary program today. I rememeber watching those b4 I had kids and picking families out whose kids I loved and watching those kids sing and look at their parents with such innocent and loving little expressions. Then I had Nolan and couldn't wait for him to get old enough to participate in those programs. It seems like he was little forever. He always had short little parts. Then Carli joined him and she was tiny and hard to understand.

Fast forward to this morning. I realized as we were getting ready for church that this was the first year that I have 3 kids in the program. THREE. Wow! How old am I? When did I become a Mom of such beautiful and talented children. They all did a great job. The older 2 memorized their parts in seconds flat. Bridger didn't have his part memorized- but then you couldn't understand him either. Lol.
I indulged in a rare treat! Because Jonny is in the Bishopric, we don't get to sit together. But today we did. He put his arm around me (when Jack wasn't going crazy) and sat back and watched our beautiful children! We are so blessed!

The Copier!

There are some people who are extremely creative on their own and others that take their ideas and copy them. I am The Copier! I don't have many original ideas. (just don't!) I see things and then think of how I can recreate it! I did that with this:

This girl made one and so did This girl. I thought about it for a long time and then went to search for some old books that I found at Goodwill for 50 cents each.But- Martha copied me (Yes it is true!) The Queen of crafts copied THIS from me! I got her magazine today and saw it in there. I can't edit my photos that I scan because we don't have a program yet on this new computer and the craft is not yet on her website- so you'll have to take my word for it!) But it feels good to be someone's inspiration! Hee hee!

My New Hairdresser?

My fro was gettin' too long. It was too long to leave down and in my face and too heavy to pull back in a pony tail. So when I couldn't take it anymore, I told Jonny to cut 3 or 4 inches off. His first reaction was,

"Aren't gonna try and grow it out to your bum?"

I have been asking Jonny for years give me a simple little hair cut and he is so afraid that he will cut it so that I won't like it. I just think... "Whatever, I can always get Katie to fix it for me!"

But ya' know what???

I don't think I need to! I think he did a marvelous Job!

Should Jonny quit his day- job and be a hairstylist???

(Hmmmm!- I think I am on to something!!!)

Running Out of Time!

I am posting this because orignally this craft of etching on jars for Super Sat. wasn't working so well. So it was changed and time is running out to make one! I am still on the Enrichment committee in church. (although I am not enrichment leader anymore) but I was given a glass jar and told to experiment with it to see if I could come up with an idea for our Super Sat. I came up with this. I just found old music and books for 50 cents each at Goodwill and decoupaged them on the jars. I think they turned out cute. If you are interested in making one, (and live locally) I will see you on Sat. 22 at church. Don't forget to sign-up or comment on this post that you are interested and I will sign you up. (cost should be somewhere around $5.50- $6) They would make good Christmas gifts for friends and neighbors when fill with nuts or chocolate malt balls!

How I feel Lately!

Jack Sprat ate no fat
and his Mom would eat NO lean
And together they lived in a house
that wasn't very clean!
I need some inspiration!!
(OR SOME COOKIES!)
